Just reopened. Food was good. Sea Bass was very good at around $30. Brussel Sprouts were cool. Flat bread good. Service was just good. Seems front end of restaurant needs a bit more attention than the kitchen. Will probably go back to give them a second shot but unfortunately wasn't over the top.

One of the first restaurants to open in the Bonita Bay Community - Backwater Jacks continues to offer solid American fare. Sit indoors or out, the choice is yours. The atmosphere is rustic; the aged wood and slightly rusted corrugated metal panels add to the charm of this place. There is decent sized bar area with several flat panel tvs. Three dollar Bloody Marys are served on Sunday - drink specials are offered daily. Another tempting special is the "Take Out for Two Tuesdays" for $20. The portions are huge, especially the dinner size salads. Overall, the staff is friendly and the food is good. The meal won't blow your socks off, but it won't break the bank either!

Though very Florida casual, I loved the place. I sat at the bar with a friend and a great meal. She had the snapper and I had the grilled black grouper. I really felt like like I was at a family/neighbor hood bar with the waitress greeting people by name. Great music, great food, great value! I will be back

This is a plAce where the people in Bonita Bay are boycotting until the "group" that owns the restaurant sells it to Bonita Bay Club. food is OK but will be improved under better management.

The only thing to get here is the Crab Corn Chowder. I had the Yellowtail Snapper and it was greasy and fishy tasting. The onion rings were terrible and the french fries were soggy. It isn't that hard to prepare this stuff properly

I seriously can not stress enogh the AWESOMENESS of this establishment. The food and service was outstanding. I ordered the Sea bass and my girl had the Snapper and the were both completely out of this world. The Happy hour is fantastic, where else can you go in SW Florida for 50% off of every drink, wine, and beer from 10-6p.m... Not to mention, the food they put out is so good, I do not know how they make the prices so low. The atmosphere was so cool as the employees make you feel so welcome and have so much fun with you. To all of you at Backwater Jacks I salute you!! Well done.

The hotel I was staying at recommended this place - had to go back to the front desk and tell them there recommendation was not so hot. Nice location overlooking a marina, decor was very inviting, the hostess was most friendly. Food was just OK, but way overpriced. Portions were small and only lukewarm when served. Our waiter was obviously distracted, Monday night serving only 3 tables and I had to remind him to refill the drinks (twice!!) To top it off, they hit my #1 pet peeve, they added the gratuity to the bill (a whooping 20%). For a table of 2, really???? There are plenty of other great seafood spots in Bonita Springs - I should have checked Yelp first!!!

My family and I were pretty hungry so we decided to just get something to eat close by. We went to the restaurant and got take out here. We ordered the mussels appetizer, salmon Caesar salad, fish and chips, and chicken wings. My two little brothers wanted chicken wings and fries, so we asked specifically for the sauce to be on the side, and the chips to be fries rather than the thick cut ones. After waiting for 15 min, we came back home and opened up our food. Two mistakes, instead of putting the sauce on the side, they just didn't give us any sauce. Also, they didn't listen and just gave us the thick cut potatoes rather than fries. WHICH SUCKED. They weren't cooked all the way and were gross. My little brothers who love potatoes didn't even touch them, and they're 4 and 6. The muscles were good, and it was a pretty good portion. My salad was fine, nothing spectacular. I was a little dissapointed because I felt for $8, I could have just bought salad and dressing from the store. I got the half portion, so the salmon was pretty tiny, maybe 3 oz. My dad got the fish and chips and they were good. They were more like fish sticks though, I thought they'd be actual fillets or bites. Overall, the food was just average.

We got a "reservation" through a VIP at this restaurant because apparently you cant just call ahead or go unless you know somebody. At first glance, it didn't seem overly fancy to need that kind of treatment. The view outside is fantastic of the marina and surrounding area. The service was moderate at best. Our server didn't seem too aware of what they had for wine or other drink specials. The menu is loaded with fried seafood which surprised me more than anything considering the availability of fresh product. We ordered the Bam Bam Shrimp for an appetizer. It is much like Bang Bang Shrimp from Bonefish Grill, but lacked some crisp. I ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese. The overall flavor was good, but it had a texture as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp. I had to wait and ask for a refill 4-5 times and sat with an empty glass for quite a while. The restaurant was practically empty and there was no sense of urgency. For the "prestige" this restaurant has I was less than impressed. Not sure if it was the slow time or if we just hit an off night.
